About The Living History
Project (TLHP)

The Living History Project (TLHP) is Malaysia's pioneering digital museum, dedicated to capturing, preserving, and sharing the personal stories and cultural legacies of Malaysians from all walks of life.

Unlike traditional history that often highlights only elites or official narratives, TLHP democratizes history—ensuring that the voices of everyday Malaysians are heard and remembered.

At its core, TLHP is a community-driven social enterprise and a not-for-profit initiative. The project sustains itself through sponsorships, strategic collaborations, and public participation.

Our Mission

To preserve untold stories

Safeguarding Malaysia's diverse heritage through firsthand accounts, photographs, films, and cultural documentation.

To empower communities

Giving meaning and value to people's lives by reminding every Malaysian that their memories and experiences are part of the nation's history.

To inspire future generations

Creating a bridge between past and present, fostering pride, identity, and unity while showing that everyone can contribute to the nation's story.

To innovate preservation

Harnessing digital technology—3D imaging, augmented reality, and virtual archives—to make history accessible, engaging, and lasting.

What We Do

Oral Histories & Profiles

Video interviews and archival documentation of Malaysia's unsung heroes, cultural icons, and everyday citizens.

Cultural & Architectural Heritage

Digital capture of iconic buildings, neighbourhoods, and traditions at risk of being lost to modernization.

Community Contributions

A participatory model inviting Malaysians to upload short videos, family stories, and memorabilia, ensuring inclusivity in the historical record.

Special Projects & Festivals

Initiatives like the TLHP Impact Festival, #RealMalaysia Stories, and CounterArchive create live experiences blending storytelling, art, heritage, and public dialogue.

Why It Matters

History is not just about the past—it is about identity, belonging, and the legacy we leave behind.

TLHP ensures that Malaysia's collective memory is preserved not in dusty tomes, but in living, accessible, and evolving formats that reflect the full diversity of our people.

Real Stories. Real People. Real Malaysia.
