Dato’ Mohammad Nor bin Mohammad Khalid, popularly known as Lat, the celebrated Malaysian cartoonist. Born on March 5, 1951, is a well-known Malaysian cartoonist. His impressive career spans several decades, during which he has published over 20 volumes of cartoons. From a young age, Lat demonstrated his artistic talent, and by the time he was just 13 years old, he had already made his mark in the world of comics.
His works primarily focus on Malaysia’s social and political landscape, often portraying them with a comedic touch, free from bias. Among his most renowned creations is the iconic comic book titled The Kampung Boy (1979), which has found readership in various countries worldwide.
In recognition of his contributions to promoting social harmony and understanding, the Sultan of Perak honored Lat with the title of “datuk” in 1994. Additionally, Lat collaborates with the government to enhance the city’s social security.
